Elveo Mobile is seeking a Systems Simulation Engineer in Chantilly, VA to join the team building the core constellation simulation tool. The role spans software and aerospace systems engineering, balancing code development with flight‑relevant modeling.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of professional software engineering experience; strong Python and Rust proficiency
• Experience building or maintaining simulation, modeling, or numerical computing tools
• Solid knowledge of orbital mechanics (Keplerian elements, J2, propagation)
• Familiarity with satellite systems fundamentals: link budgets, antenna gain, SINR/EIRP
• Experience with performance profiling and Rust optimization
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: VCS, testing, CI/CD, maintainable code
• Ability to ramp quickly on a complex codebase and take ownership over time

Responsibilities

• Maintain and extend the constellation system simulation tool (Python/Rust hybrid)
• Grow into a primary ownership role as the tool evolves
• Implement and validate orbital mechanics models and cross-check against tools
• Model and validate RF link budgets and beam/cell assignment logic
• Design performance-critical components in Rust with Python front-ends
• Support architecture trade studies by extending simulation capabilities
• Build APIs/CLI/UI to enable engineers to run simulations easily
• Document code and data models to build institutional knowledge
• Contribute to system architecture and systems engineering activities
• Collaborate with mission engineering, RF/payload, and launch teams
• Optimize for performance and scalability as the constellation grows
