Job summary

Elveo in Chantilly, VA is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join the Mission Operations team, focusing on the ground segment of our satellite constellation. You will design, build, and ship backend services, APIs, and automation that connect Elveo's ground station network to our Mission Operations Software.

This role is primarily software development with Python microservices (FastAPI), React/Vue dashboards, MQTT, and AWS/on‑prem infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE or related field.
• 5+ years in production software, preferably Python.
• Experience owning a service from design to operation.
• REST APIs design and relational DB experience.
• CI/CD, code reviews, and modern dev practices.
• Strong Linux knowledge.
• Networking basics to debug large systems.
• Interest in satellite ops or ground systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services for satellite contacts.
• Build REST APIs and MQTT integrations between ground stations and ops tools.
• Write production Python and contribute to shared libraries.
• Develop dashboards in React/Vue for telemetry and health.
• Participate in MR reviews, automated tests, and CI/CD.
