Job summary

Elveo in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Flight Software Engineer to develop satellite flight software, commanding and data handling, and support for payload and radio functions. You’ll build Linux-based applications and testing tools in a lab flatsat environment to verify mission readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Software, Computer, Electrical, Aerospace, or related engineering field.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Rust, and Linux with strong hardware interaction experience.
• Experience writing automated tests and familiarity with CI/CD systems.
• Knowledge of embedded Linux, Yocto/OpenEmbedded, and IPC mechanisms.
• Ability to design, develop, test, and verify flight software for spacecraft.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test spacecraft flight software systems (CDH, power, comms, GNC).
• Develop Linux applications that run on satellite flight systems.
• Work in an agile, small team across requirements, design, implementation, tests, and verification.
• Create embedded software to interface with satellite devices using CAN, I2C, SPI, RS-422/485.
• Build telemetry and tooling to capture data for verification and validation.
• Participate in design and code reviews and uphold flight software best practices.
