Elveo in Chantilly, VA seeks a Flight Software Engineer to design, develop, and test satellite flight software for commanding and data handling. You will build Linux-based applications running on flight systems, support test labs and flatsat simulations, and develop telemetry to verify software performance.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in at least one systems programming language such as C, C++, or Rust.
• Willingness to work with Rust.
• Familiarity with Linux and OS principles.
• Experience building software that interacts with hardware devices or close-to-hardware systems.
• Understanding of SDLC phases.
• Experience writing automated tests for software.
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD basics.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Software, Computer, Electrical, Aerospace or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test spacecraft flight software systems (Command and Data Handling; Power; Communications; G&C).
• Develop Linux applications for satellite flight systems.
• Collaborate in a small, agile team across lifecycle stages.
• Participate in design and code reviews and uphold best practices.
• Support Operations and Payload teams with satellite flight system needs.
• Create embedded software to interact with satellite hardware using CAN, I2C, SPI, RS-422/485.
• Implement IPC mechanisms in Linux for inter-application coordination.
• Develop test software for unit, integration, and system testing.
• Build telemetry and data capture tooling for flight software verification.
