Responsibilities for Oracle Database Administrators:

  1. Design, develop, implement, and maintain core Oracle database applications.
  2. Create and maintain 57 Oracle instances on AIX, ranging from Oracle Database versions 10g to 19c.
  3. Develop storage database structures with high-level security features.
  4. Alter storage structures to meet evolving company needs.
  5. Set up database user accounts, control, and monitor user access.
  6. Train users on database access.
  7. Debug malfunctioning programs affecting database integrity.
  8. Create autonomous backups and contribute to disaster recovery plans.
  9. Maintain archived data on tape.
  10. Perform performance testing and evaluation to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity, identifying bottlenecks and deadlocks.
  11. Update database security protocols regularly.
  12. Install and upgrade Oracle server and tools.
  13. Plan future storage requirements.
  14. Create primary database storage structures (tablespaces).
  15. Create primary objects (tables, views, indexes).
  16. Execute data migration jobs and scripts.
  17. Modify database structures as needed based on developer input.
  18. Enroll users and maintain system security.
  19. Ensure compliance with Oracle license agreements.
  20. Contact Oracle for technical support.
  21. Ensure SLAs & KPIs are met, coordinating with support teams during major incidents.

Technical and Professional Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering or science.
  • Proven experience as an Oracle Database Administrator on AIX (10g-19c) and various Oracle versions.
  • Experience with Oracle RAC on AIX and Linux.
  • Familiarity with Oracle database design, coding, and documentation.
  • Ability to visualize algorithmic structures.
  • Experience in DB design, capacity planning, performance tuning, storage management, backup/recovery, schema management, reporting, and clustering technologies.
  • Proficiency with Oracle management tools (Data Guard, RMAN, Data Pump), Partitioning, and architecture design.
  • Hands-on experience with DB standards and translating requirements into infrastructure deployment.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
