Job summary

Sauk Valley Community College in northwestern Illinois is seeking a Networking Specialist to serve as the primary technical backup for infrastructure, networking, and Banner-backed databases. The role involves Oracle databases, Banner, backups, virtualization, and AD provisioning across production and testing environments.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience with 5+ years in system administration or database management; strong Oracle SQL,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent education and experience; 5+ years in system administration or database management preferred.
• Experience with Oracle SQL, database administration and server virtualization is strongly preferred.
• Experience in Ellucian Banner environment is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical activities related to the design, analysis, development, and tuning of the Oracle databases and Banner.
• Monitor Oracle database backups, clone and refresh databases from the production environment to development and testing environments as needed.
• Maintain Banner servers and serve as the primary operational backup to the Director of Infrastructure and Network Services regarding maintenance, monitoring, server patching, and disaster recovery execution of the College’s technical infrastructure.
