Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of OR technician program or on-the-job/military training; evidence required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist NBSTSA/NCCT and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assists in transportation and positioning of patients.
• Assists in assembling and dismantling of tables and instruments before and after procedure.
• Prepares patient and room for the planned surgical procedures.
• Opens sterile supplies and sets up for procedures.
• Completes skin preparation and draping.
• Assists Surgeon with gowning and gloving.
• Passes instruments and sutures to the surgeon.
• Maintains correct count of instruments, sutures, and sponges.
• Applies dressings and bandages as needed.
• Assists in identifying, collecting, and caring for specimens.
• Decontaminates instruments, supplies and equipment per policies.
• Aids in turnover of the operating room for next cases.
• Monitors and restocks supplies.
