Job summary

Outpatient Services East (OSE) in Alabama is seeking a Surgical Tech to support multiple specialties. The role involves preparing rooms, sterile instruments and supplies, scrubbing during procedures, and rotating through general, ENT, orthopedics, GYN, urology and ophthalmology.

The schedule is Monday–Friday starting at 5:30am, with variable finish times. CPR is required, OR Tech Certification is not required but a plus, and you will also rotate in Support Tech.

Description

Outpatient Services East (OSE) is a multi-specialty surgery center with a proven record of providing quality care and cost savings since inception in 1985. The facility has grown over the years from 6,000 square feet and 13 staff members to approximately 32,000 square feet and over 140 staff members.

Located in the Professional Office Building #52 on the UAB St. Vincent’s East Campus, the facility now provides 6 operating rooms and 9 procedure rooms. OSE offers board certified physicians and continues to be one of the frontrunners of ambulatory surgery centers, not only in the State of Alabama, but in the Southeast.

OSE was the first freestanding surgery center in Alabama to be accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and has successfully maintained this accreditation to date.

This position will rotate among various services such as general, ENT, orthopedics, GYN, urology, and ophthalmology. Prepares rooms, sterile instruments and supplies, and equipment for surgery. Scrubs during surgical procedures and will also rotate as Support Tech as well. Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient. Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.

Assists in transporting, positioning or prepping of patients. Assists in checking and moving of OR equipment for proper working order. Daily cleaning above sinks in OR Hall. Provides various maintenance tasks in facility. Transports specimens to hospital lab as directed. Assisting in ordering and receiving supplies for purchasing department. Restocking of supplies in Sterile Supply Room. Support Rooms, moving patients, turning, holding for prep. Stock blanket warmer, stock fluids in A&D, GI, PACU and fluid warmer in OR. Transport for PACU. Change O2 Tanks. Unbox and unload in Supply room. In specimen room, boxing of needle boxes, specimens, running specimens to lab, checking needle boxes in OR's. Stocking of masks, eye protection, any PPE, etc at OR sinks.
