Job summary

Orlando Health ORMC in Orlando, FL is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support sterile technique and instrument handling for diverse procedures. This role focuses on maintaining an orderly surgical field and efficient passing of instruments to the surgeon.

The position requires a Surgical Technology training program completion (or Orlando Health training program), a high school diploma, and current BLS certification, with at least two years of Surgical Tech experience.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Successful completion of Surgical Technology training program; or Orlando Health training program.
• Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Reviews preference and verifies case cart completely prior to case.
• Maintains an orderly surgical field and passes instruments and supplies quickly and efficiently to the surgeon.
• Anticipates and prioritizes the needs of the procedure steps.
• Participates in sponge, needle and instruments counts as dictated by the procedure.
• Maintains surgical specimens for pathology evaluation.
• Assists in ordering and stocking specialty supplies under management guidance.
• Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications throughout the facility (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy).

• Responsible for maintaining the surgical specimen in a manner which identifies and preserves them for pathology evaluation.
• Assists in ordering and stocking of specialty supplies under the direction of management staff and departmental guidelines.
• Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs)
  throughout the facility.

Qualifications

Education/Training: High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of:

• Surgical Technology training program; or
• Orlando Health training program

Licensure/Certification: Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.

Experience: Two (2) years of Surgical Tech experience required.
