Job summary

Retired Nurses in Wetumpka, AL seeks an experienced Operating Room Technician or Surgical Tech to support high-volume trauma, neuro, vascular and general surgeries. Open to Certified and Non-certified candidates with 2+ years of strong trauma and neuro experience; robotics experience with DaVinci XI and Mazor is preferred.

You will circulate and scrub, maintain sterile technique, and collaborate with surgeons on a Level II trauma center team.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of trauma and neuro experience in surgical setting
• Broad skills across general, vascular, ENT, Ortho spine, Gyn, urology, plastics, breasts, eyes
• Robotics experience with DaVinci XI and Mazor preferred
• Certification is preferred but not mandatory
• Open to Certified and Non-certified Surgical Techs; open for first-time travelers if overall experience is 2+ years

Responsibilities

• Provide expert assistance in high-volume trauma, neuro, vascular, general, and other complex surgeries
• Support circulating and scrub roles as needed, collaborating with surgeons and the surgical team
• Maintain meticulous adherence to aseptic and sterile techniquesUtilize advanced operating room technology (EMR: Cerner, IV pumps: Plum 360, Omnicell, Spacelabs monitoring)
• Engage with a multidisciplinary team, including ORA, desk assistants, first assists, charge nurses, and service line leaders
• Participate in a structured two-week daytime orientation with buddy call support

Job description

A unique opportunity awaits skilled professionals experienced in perioperative care and surgical technology. This role is ideal for those with expertise in Nursing - Operating Room Technician (ORT), Certified or Non-certified Surgical Tech, seeking an engaging position in a high-acuity hospital environment.

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts: Friday, Saturday, Sunday (6:30 pm start; 36 hours/week)
• Weekend, night, and holiday rotation required
• On-call: One day/week (3 pm-7 am) and one weekend/month (Friday 3 pm-Monday 7 am)

Key Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of strong trauma and neuro experience in a surgical setting (no burns)
• Broad skills across general, vascular, ENT, Ortho spine, Gyn, urology, plastics, breasts, eyes
• Robotics experience with DaVinci XI and/or Mazor preferred
• Certification is preferred but not mandatory
• Open to both Certified and Non-certified Surgical Techs; open for first-time travelers if overall experience is 2+ years
• Current competency with AAA, carotids, endovascular, trauma, and a versatile range of surgical procedures valued
