Job summary

The University of Rochester invites applications for an OR Tech in Surgical Services. The successful candidate assists with surgical procedures, passes instruments to the surgeon, and supports sterile processing under RN and surgeon supervision.

Responsibilities include maintaining a sterile field, preparing instruments, decontaminating equipment, and assisting with patient care before and after procedures. Requires NYS LPN or Surgical Technologist certification and BLS.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nursing Degree in NYS and/or Surgical Technologist certification.
• Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English.
• Basic life support certification.
• Sterilization certification, or working to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist with surgical procedures and pass instruments to the surgeon.
• Maintain sterile field and asepsis during procedures.
• Sterilize instruments and maintain proper packaging/records.
• Prepare surgical instruments and supplies before, during, and after procedures.
• Collaborate with the Surgical Services team to support patient care.
