Job summary

Rochester Regional Health in Newark, NY is seeking a Surgical Technologist to serve as the primary scrub tech in the operating room. You will prepare, organize, and manage surgical instruments and supplies, while maintaining a sterile field and ensuring safe procedures throughout each operation.

Responsibilities include instrument processing, aseptic setup, assisting with draping, passing instruments to the surgeon, and supporting staff orientation and department goals.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited Surgical Technology program with certification within 12 months of graduation.
• Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing with licensure.
• Grandfathering or hard-to-fill clauses applicable under specific timelines and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a sterile field and follow aseptic techniques.
• Prepare and check instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
• Pass instruments to the surgeon during procedures.
• Assist with patient draping and attire of the surgical team.
• Perform sponge and sharp counts with the circulating nurse.
• Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization.
• Support specialty surgical services and stock OR rooms as needed.
• Prepare sterile dressings and assist with post-operative care.
• Help orient new staff and contribute to unit goals.
