RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an OR Tech III for the Jersey City Medical Center in New Jersey. The role supports the perioperative team, scrubs across multiple service lines, and ensures patient safety and efficient workflow within the operating room.

The position requires a Surgical Technician training program completion, NBSTSA and BLS certifications, and 2–3 years of relevant experience. Night shift, full-time schedule available, with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program.
• 2–3 years of experience.
• Scrub experience across robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic, trauma.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written).
• Must be able to multitask, be flexible, and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist perioperative RN as part of the surgical team to organize and administer age-appropriate patient care.
• Maintain a safe environment to support patient outcomes in the surgical suite and perioperative division.
• Support sterilization, instrument handling, and readiness of equipment for procedures.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate‘s educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview

In collaboration with the perioperative registered nurse, the surgical technician will function as a member of the team to organize and administer individualizes age specific care to patients, maintain an environment that facilitates safe patient outcomes, and ensure patient’s physiologic responses to surgery are as expected in the surgical suite and across the perioperative division.

Qualifications

Required

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an Surgical Technician training program
• 2 – 3 years of experience
• Must have strong knowledge with skill being able to scrub the following service lines: robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases and trauma
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbally and written)
• Must be able to make calls. Must be flexible, able to multitask and be able to work independently

Certifications and Licenses Required

• Certified Surgical Technician (NBSTSA) required
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association
