Job summary

St. Mary's Hospital - Kankakee is seeking an Operating Room Tech for per diem shifts in the Surgery department. The role focuses on prepping sterile supplies and maintaining the sterile field while assisting the surgeon with instruments during procedures.

Candidates should have ORT training or equivalent experience, with 3+ years in a surgical setting and current BLS certification. Per diem earns competitive compensation in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience.
• Graduate of an ORT training program or on the job training with at least 3 years experience (surgical setting preferred).
• Experience scrubbing minor and major procedures in generalized surgical specialties (GYN, General, Plastics).
• Experience scrubbing in specialty areas (ortho, neuro, ENT, Uro, etc.).
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sterile supplies and instruments and maintain sterile field.
• Provide surgeon with sterile supplies and instruments during procedures.

Responsibilities

The Operating Room Tech is responsible for the preparation of sterile supplies and instruments for each assigned procedure, maintaining sterile field during case and providing surgeon with sterile supplies and instruments during assigned procedures.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014.

2. Graduate of an ORT training program or on the job training with a minimum of 3 years experience (surgical setting preferred).

3. Experience in scrubbing minor and major procedures in the generalized surgical specialties, (i.e., GYN, General and Plastics).

4. Experience in scrubbing at least minor procedures in the specialty surgical areas (i.e., ortho, neuro, ENT, Uro. Etc.).

5. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

St. Mary's Hospital - Kankakee offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $23.72. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
