Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks a Surgical Technologist to join the perioperative team in Needham, MA. You will prepare the OR with instruments, supplies and equipment for each procedure and assist the surgeon and perioperative staff throughout surgeries.

You will scrub and maintain aseptic technique, follow sterile procedures, manage specimens and equipment, and participate in accurate surgical counts. Dynamic team environment with growth opportunities is provided.

Qualifications

• Vocational/technical training in Surgical Technology or military/PHS equivalent.
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential required or must be obtained within 12 months.
• BLS–AHA certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
• 0-1 year related work experience required.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a closely integrated team.
• Experience with computer systems including MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the OR room with appropriate instrument, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each procedure.
• References pre-printed preference cards for supplies.
• Demonstrates competence assisting the surgeon and perioperative team.
• Maintains aseptic technique in scrubbing, gowning, gloving, and setup.
• Maintains proper handling of sterile supplies and specimens.
• Performs surgical counts and adheres to guidelines.
• Follows sterilization and instrument care protocols.
• Safe use of electrosurgery, laser, and power equipment.
• Remains calm and prioritizes during emergencies.
• Follows department protocols and legal job requirements.
