Qualifications

• Education: OR Technician course or on-the-job training for at least one year.
• Experience: One year hospital experience preferred.
• Certification/License: ORT certification number required as of January 2008; obtains 15 CEU’s annually.
• CPR certification & NRP certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by scrubbing surgical cases.
• Assists with supplies and equipment and performs non-nursing functions.
• Participates in Universal Protocol and Time-Out.
• Maintains asepsis and sterile field.
• Ensures proper functioning of equipment and supplies.
• Prepares and positions room; sets up instruments and materials.
• Counts on all surgical procedures per policy.
• Follows laser safety measures and standard precautions.
• Handles endoscopes with proper care and processing.
