Job summary

Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, TX seeks a Surgical Tech to help prepare the operating room and provide instrumental support for a variety of procedures. You will set up equipment, assist the surgical team, and help maintain a sterile environment to support patient healing.

You must be adaptable with strong teamwork and a passion for assisting complex surgical cases, alongside required certifications and CPR readiness within 14 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required at hire.
• Certified Surgical Technologist status required at hire.
• TX LPN license acceptable with surgical tech experience.
• Technologist in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) or Certified First Assistant status preferred.
• Basic Life Support/CPR certification required within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgical team in the scrubbing role according to prescribed standards.
• Maintains sterile field and reports any breaks in aseptic technique.
• Passes instruments, sutures, medications, and sponge materials to surgeon.
• Assists with tissue retraction and suctioning as directed by the surgeon.
• Applies electrosurgical current as directed to instruments placed by the surgeon.
• Performs surgical counts with the RN according to policy and procedure.
