Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Surgical Tech to support the operating room team at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center in Houston. You will set up surgical equipment, assist the surgical team, and maintain a sterile environment to enable a range of procedures.

You will adapt quickly, collaborate within the OR team, and directly contribute to patient healing. The role requires strong adaptability, a teamwork mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures in a high-stakes

Qualifications

• High School Graduate General Studies or GED or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology
• Minimum of 3 years of recent, continuous experience as a Surgical Technologist in an acute care hospital setting
• Certified Surgical Technologist or Technologist in Surgery-Certified upon hire
• Basic Life Support (CPR) within 14 days

Responsibilities

• Expert Scrub Role and Surgical Preparedness: prepare the operating room and supplies for complex procedures
• Advanced Instrumentation and Equipment Management: manage and troubleshoot instruments and coordinate repairs with Biomedical Services
• Cost-Conscious Supply Management: balance quality of care with cost containment
• Sterile Field Maintenance and Safety: maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures
• Patient Support: assist with patient transfer, positioning, incision prep, and post-op dressings
• Process Improvement & In-service Coordination: coordinate equipment in-services and improve departmental processes
