Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an OR Tech I in Jersey City to join the operating room team. Under RN supervision, you will support the surgeon and nursing staff, assist with patient care, and maintain sterile technique throughout surgical cases.

The role requires certification and strong teamwork. Responsibilities include scrubbing for multiple service lines and adapting to a fast-paced OR environment with alternating weekends and call coverage.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program.
• NBSTSA Certification required for this role.
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• A member of the surgical team, acting under the direction of a Registered Nurse, who works with the surgeon and RN in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibility before, during and after surgery.
• Assist in the scrub and setup for surgery and ensure sterile technique throughout procedures.

Job Overview

Qualifications

• HighSchooldiplomaorequivalent
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program
• 2 – 3 years of experience
• Must have strong knowledge with skill being able to scrub the following service lines: robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases and trauma
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbally and written)
• Must be able to make calls. Must be flexible, able to multitask and be able to work independently

Certifications and Licenses Required

• Certified Surgical Technician, required
• NBSTSA Certification, required
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association
