Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a skilled Surgical Assistant to coordinate operating room schedules, ensuring sterility and patient safety throughout procedures. You will prepare and manage instruments and supplies, validating patient details and operative sites with precision.

The role includes mentoring new staff, collaborating with physicians and OR teams, and adapting to evolving procedures to extend compassionate care across the system.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equiv (Required)
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) - RQI Resuscitation Quality Improvement
• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) - EV Accredited Issuing Body
• State Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - EV Accredited Issuing Body

Responsibilities

• Coordinate surgery schedules for physicians' operating rooms, including times, procedure names, and consents.
• Ensure sterility of all items in the sterile field and patient safety in the operative environment.
• Prepare supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgical cases per physician preference lists.
• Validate patient and operative site, maintain accurate counts, and label medications/fluids.
• Coach and teach new team members, serving as liaison between physicians and OR staff.

Education

Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS)

Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA)

State Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
