Job summary

Surgery Partners, Inc in Texas is seeking a scheduler with experience in coordinating surgeries and patient scheduling. You will work with physicians and front office to ensure pre-visit prerequisites, insurance verification, and smooth case flow.

The role requires strong attention to detail, multi-tasking and excellent communication to support patient care and provider workflows in a surgical facility.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years scheduling appointments and/or surgeries.
  • Experience with insurance verification processes and business office functions.
  • Knowledge of scheduling software and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Counseling patients and scheduling surgeries for multiple physicians.
  • Scheduling surgeries and coordinating with primary care physicians daily.
  • Maintaining relationships with physician offices.
  • Completing all necessary paperwork for each procedure on the physicians’ schedule.
  • Pre-certifying any procedures on the schedule.
  • Multi-tasking and working with a diverse patient population.
  • Providing back-up support for the Front Office as needed.
  • Performing other duties as required.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions
  • Counseling patients and scheduling surgeries for multiple physicians.
  • Scheduling surgeries and working with primary care physicians daily to ensure each patient has their history and physicals completed prior to surgery.
  • Maintaining relationships with physician offices through their staff.
  • Completing all necessary paperwork for each procedure on the physicians’ schedule.
  • Pre‑certifying any procedures on the schedule.
  • Being capable of multi‑tasking and working with a diverse patient population.
  • Providing back‑up support for the Front Office as needed.
  • Performing other duties as required.
Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience scheduling appointments and/or surgeries.
  • Experience with insurance verification processes and business office functions.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of clinic policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of managed care contracts and utilization management.
  • Knowledge of computer systems, programs, and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with scheduling software.
Skills
  • Gathering and reporting claim information.
  • Solving utilization problems.
  • Written and verbal communication with strong customer relations.
  • Experience in a surgical facility as a scheduler.
  • Fast and accurate data entry.
  • Service‑oriented patient demeanor.
  • Ability to multi‑task, manage time effectively, and deliver results.
  • Strict attention to detail.
  • Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
