Job summary

UNC Health Care System in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking a Facilities Technician for the Operating Room ASC. The role oversees environmental, equipment and supply maintenance, and assists with patient transport under supervision. 40 hours per week, day shift, onsite with no on-call or weekends.

The position requires basic life support certification, a flexible team player with the ability to coordinate with OR staff, and a commitment to maintaining sterile and ready-to-use surgical environments.

Qualifications

• No formal degree required if other qualifications are met.
• BLS for Health Care Provider certification required.
• Experience coordinating patient transport and OR setup preferred.

Responsibilities

• Changes mop water, cleans mop room and hallways, maintains sub-sterile and scrub sink areas per policy and procedure.
• Communicates with RN circulator and OR schedule coordinator to plan transport, assistance with positioning and holding limbs for surgical site prep.
• Obtains case needs for each OR suite including positioning aids, equipment, and room supplies; stocks OR suites.
• Transports specimens, blood and blood products to and from laboratories.
