Job description

The OR Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading and managing supply chain activities within the operating room and surgical services. This role focuses on inventory management, clinical integration, and fostering collaboration between supply chain and clinical teams to enhance operational efficiency and patient care. The manager will lead a team, conduct inventory analytics, and serve as a liaison between surgical staff and materials management.

Essential Job Statements

Leadership:

• Primary point of contact, representing Supply Chain Operations within the OR/Procedural Space.
• Set expectations for team members to maintain Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor performance to ensure it meets expectations for the OR Supply Chain Area.
• Manage department functions, staff, and shifts according to VCUHS policy.
• Conduct employee performance reviews.

Operational Management:

• Oversee all aspects of the OR Supply Chain, including staffing, inventory, and processes.
• Ensure compliance with policies, processes, and regulations.
• Implement strategies to meet business targets and monitor inventory levels, cycle counts, and SKU reduction.
• Oversee the Implant Coordinator responsible for implant stocking and reordering.
• Collaborate with the Value Analysis team on product standardization and utilization targets.
• Ensure processes improve supply utilization, contract compliance, and product standardization.
• Coordinate with IT and analysts to optimize supply chain operations.
• Manage inventory to ensure adequate stock of surgical supplies and optimize procurement strategies.
• Develop and maintain policies related to OR management, ensuring safety and supply availability.

Miscellaneous Responsibilities:

• Perform other duties as assigned and participate in special projects supporting VCUHS and the Department.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Bachelor's preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of medical Supply Chain experience, with 3+ years in management within OR materials.
• Experience with JIT inventory programs and inventory management systems.
• Management/supervisory experience and budget development preferred.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

• High-stress periods, fluctuating workloads, office environment, travel required.
• Physical demands include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and manual dexterity.
