Job summary

JMC Jefferson Medical Center is seeking an intraoperative scrub professional to assist the surgical team throughout procedures. You will maintain sterile technique, support the circulating RN, pass instruments, and help with patient positioning and transport under surgeon direction.

Requires completion of LPN or RN program and a Surgical Technology program or equivalent scrub experience. BLS within 30 days of hire; four 10-hour shifts with call.

Qualifications

• Completion of Licensed Practical Nurse program, plus surgical tech or RN program as listed.
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program and/or RN program.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent with 6 months scrub experience.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes aseptic technique in OR roles to maintain sterile field.
• Assists circulating RN to monitor sterile field and OR staff.
• Performs sponge, instrument, and needle counts per guidelines.
• Gowns and gloved surgeons and positions equipment and instruments as directed.
• Passes sterile instruments to surgical team during procedures.
• Assists with patient positioning and transport as directed by the surgeon.
• Prepares supplies and equipment per preference cards.
• Maintains sterile/non-sterile supplies and equipment; assists with sterilization.
• Monitors inventory, orders, and restocks supplies and equipment.
• Removes outdated items and follows reprocessing guidelines.
• Supports department cleaning and equipment checks.
• Records patient charges accurately and notes call response within 30 minutes.
