Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced Operating Room Nurse aiming to become a scrub nurse in the MAIN OR at ST LUKE’S Medical Center. The role requires an active RN license in Wisconsin, BLS certification, and prior perioperative or surgical technology experience.

Responsibilities include preoperative preparation, intraoperative support, equipment and environment management, and patient care with strong emphasis on aseptic technique and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in WI.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Previous experience in perioperative nursing or surgical technology needed.
• Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical procedures.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull equipment and patients safely.

Responsibilities

• Preoperative Preparation: maintain a clean, safe surgical area and uphold aseptic technique.
• Intraoperative Support: anticipate surgeon needs, pass instruments, hold retractors as needed.
• Equipment & Environment Management: set up and operate surgical equipment; ensure sterility and safety.
• Patient Care & Transport: safely position and transport patients with proper handling techniques.
• Collaboration & Communication: notify staff of equipment issues and collaborate with the team for smooth workflow.
