Job summary

George Washington University Hospital is seeking an OR RN to deliver direct patient care during surgical procedures in a high-acuity environment. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety, sterile technique, and efficient operating room workflow.

The role emphasizes collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative staff, with opportunities for professional growth within an academic medical center.

Qualifications

• Current DC RN license (or eligible for DC licensure).
• BLS and ACLS (must be AHA-certified).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in the Operating Room or Perioperative setting.

Responsibilities

• Circulate or scrub for surgical procedures across multiple specialties.
• Perform pre-op assessments and intra-op monitoring.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and enforce infection control policies.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical techs.
• Document patient status and surgical events accurately and in real-time.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families pre- and post-procedure.
• Participate in staff training and continuous improvement initiatives.
