Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room to join our team. The RN is responsible for nursing care and outcomes for a defined group of patients, applying the nursing process in collaboration with the health care team.

The role emphasizes patient safety, documentation, and collaborative practice. Candidates should hold NYS RN licensure and BLS certification; CNOR or AORN experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program.
• Registered Nurse License-NYS.
• Basic Life Support Certification (AHA).
• BSN preferred.
• NY State RN License is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs other duties aligned with the mission and values of the organization.
• Demonstrates personal accountability for professional practice and growth.
• Documents patient assessment, reassessment, progress toward goals, and all required documentation accurately and timely.
• Promotes patient safety and quality, including adherence to National Patient Safety Goals.
• Communicates and collaborates effectively with health care team, escalating situations appropriately.
• Establishes caring relationships with staff, patients, families and other team members.
• Administers medication and parenteral therapy per policy, including blood administration.
• Sets priorities for patient care, uses critical thinking, coordinates and completes care independently or with delegation.
• Provides patient/family education and assists in discharge planning.
• Demonstrates knowledge to provide nursing care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-related criteria.
