Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Operating Room and post-anesthesia areas. The role includes scrub or circulating duties, pre- and post-operative care, and collaboration with surgeons and anesthesia staff in Providence, RI.

The successful candidate will provide intensive nursing care in the OR, perform post-operative monitoring in PACU, and contribute to patient safety through meticulous charting and adherence to sterile technique.

Qualifications

• Must hold Rhode Island RN license and be licensed to practice in RI.
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Ability to provide perioperative nursing care under supervision.
• Ability to work effectively with physicians and hospital staff.

Responsibilities

• Render professional nursing care to peri-operative patients, including chart review, medication administration, starting IVs, hanging blood, EKGs, venipuncture, and catheterization.
• Initiate or participate in life-saving procedures, including CPR as needed.
• Plan and implement nursing care plans; evaluate treatments with physicians as circumstances require.
• Verify patient identity and ensure pre-operative orders are carried out.
• Assist during surgical procedures by preparing instruments, scrubbing or circulating, and maintaining sterile technique.
