Job summary

Stony Brook University Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) for the Operating Room. This full-time role covers preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative nursing activities across variable shifts.

The ideal candidate will hold a NY RN license (or eligibility) with a BSN preferred, plus OR experience and CNOR certification if possible. BLS certification is required, and onboarding includes standard health and safety screenings.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with NY license required or eligibility.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Two years OR RN experience and CNOR certification preferred.
• BLS certification required (within onboarding).

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition and coordinate care with other health disciplines.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans and discharge planning.
• Administer direct care and medications as needed.
• Maintain infection control and safe environment.
• Document care in medical records and communicate changes to team.
• Participate in quality assurance activities within the unit/hospital.
