Job summary

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute-care teaching hospital within Hartford HealthCare, offering a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services. The OR Nurse functions as Circulator/Scrub Nurse in the Operating Room, organizing and delivering individualized patient care to surgical patients in accordance with hospital policies and professional standards.

Candidates must have a CT RN license; BSN preferred; BLS required and ACLS to be obtained within 6 months if not already held;

Qualifications

• Valid CT RN License
• BSN preferred
• BLS Certification required, ACLS to be obtained within 6 months if candidate does not already possess certification
• 1 year of acute care, two years surgical experience preferred
• Must be able to communicate effectively, and work closely with all physicians and staff
• Strong organizational skills

Responsibilities

• The OR Nurse functions as Circulator/Scrub Nurse in the Operating Room.
• Organizes and administers individualized, professional patient care to patients within the Operating Room.
• Provides nursing care in accordance with the objectives, policies, procedures and protocols of the hospital and AORN, ASPAN and SGNA standards.
• Participates in patient teaching; incorporates the needs and behavior of the patient's specific age/cultural groups in planning and providing care.
• Participates in quality improvement activities.
