Job summary

Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center is hiring a Perioperative Patient Care Assistant to support efficient surgical operations. You will prepare rooms, assist with patient handling, ensure equipment availability, and help maintain a clean, safe environment.

You will open sterile supplies, assist with patient positioning, manage specimens, and collaborate with the surgical team to meet turnover benchmarks and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification required.
• At least 1 year of related health care experience.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) must be current within 14 days.

Responsibilities

• Prepare rooms and assist with patient handling to support efficient surgical operations.
• Open sterile supplies, assist with patient positioning and equipment setup.
• Assist the surgical team with instrument sets, sutures and turnover benchmarks.
• Support patient movement, transport, and retrieval of imaging during procedures.
• Collaborate with Registered Nurses, Surgical Scrubs and Surgeons while maintaining safety and infection control.
• Anticipate needs of the surgical team and provide necessary support and knowledge of supplies.
