Job summary

Central Neighborhood Health Foundation seeks an Optometric Technician/Optical Assistant to support the Optometry Department and staff, ensuring patients receive a welcoming, efficient, and high-quality experience throughout their visit.

The role performs comprehensive testing, assists during examinations, processes eyewear orders, maintains equipment, manages inventory, and upholds infection-control and privacy standards across front-office and clinical activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; CPR certification required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in optometry/ophthalmic setting preferred.
• Experience with EMR/EHR and eyewear orders is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive preliminary and diagnostic testing prior to the patient's examination by the optometrist.
• Assist the optometrist during examinations and procedures; prepare rooms, equipment, and patients.
• Accurately document patient history and test results in the medical record.
• Maintain clean, stocked examination rooms and optical areas; ensure infection control.
• Process eyewear work orders and coordinate with optical laboratory for fabrication and finishing.
• Protect patient privacy and assist with patient flow and collaboration across departments.
