Job summary

United Health Centers of the San Joaquin Valley is hiring an Optometry Assistant to work with our optometry team in a state-of-the-art health center. The OA will support the Optometrist, assist with ocular tests, and help with eyewear dispensing in a patient-friendly, bilingual environment.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• Valid driver's license.
• Valid CPR/BLS Certification.
• Minimum 1 year of healthcare experience (preferred).
• Optometric Assistant certification or 1 year optometry/ophthalmology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical support, promote smooth patient flow, and maintain exam rooms and supplies.
• Interview patients, obtain histories, perform auto refraction, tonometry, and ocular tests as directed.
• Document findings in the EHR ophthalmic template and assist with eyeglasses or contacts dispensing.
• Maintain optical boards and restock glasses in the electronic program.
• Educate patients, address questions, and interface with staff and community activities.
• Work flexible hours as needed and participate in center in-services.
