Job summary

United Health Centers of the San Joaquin Valley seeks an Optical Technician to work with our Optometry team. You will assist the optometrist, help patients choose lenses and frames, and ensure a smooth optical workflow in the health center.

The role requires reading prescriptions, explaining insurance benefits, stocking and reconciling optical inventory, and providing patient education. CPR certification and 2+ years in optics are expected, with bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification required.
• Minimum 2 years optical experience.
• Preferred Optician license.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt optical support and maintain smooth patient flow.
• Educate patients and answer questions to alleviate anxieties.
• Assist patients with fitting, ordering, and dispensing eyeglasses or contacts.
• Explain insurance coverage of vision supplies and obtain authorizations when needed.
• Maintain optical inventory and restock glasses as needed.
