Job summary

United Health Centers of the San Joaquin Valley is hiring an Optometry Assistant to join our state-of-the-art health centers. The role supports an Optometrist with examinations, testing, patient education and optical dispensing in a Monday–Friday schedule.

Experience in healthcare is welcomed; CPR/BLS is required, and a valid driver’s license is needed. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not mandatory. We offer competitive benefits and a patient-centered team environment.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• Valid driver's license and CPR/BLS certification.
• Minimum 1 year healthcare experience; optometry/ophthalmology preferred.
• Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish) but not required.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients and collect chief complaints and histories.
• Assist with auto refractometry, tonometry, lensometry and related tests.
• Document findings in the ophthalmic EHR template.
• Assist patients with fitting/dispensing eyewear or contacts.
• Maintain optical boards and stock; support patient education.
