Job summary

United Health Centers is hiring an Optometry Assistant to join our team in a state-of-the-art health center. The OA will work with the Optometrist to deliver high-quality patient care, gather histories, perform auto refraction, tonometry, lensometry and other ocular tests, and support the optical area with fitting and dispensing.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Optometric Assistant certification preferred.
• Experience in healthcare settings is beneficial; bilingual ability is a plus.
• Strong communication, customer service and computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients and obtain chief histories; perform auto refraction, tonometry, lensometry and ocular tests as directed by the Optometrist.
• Document findings in the ophthalmic template in the EHR and maintain patient records.
• Assist patients in the optical area with fitting, ordering and dispensing eyewear or contacts.
• Restock and maintain optical boards and equipment; provide patient education as needed.
• Communicate effectively with staff and supervisors; adapt to flexible hours when required.
