Job summary

The Indian Health Service invites applications for an optometric physician role providing comprehensive eye care within Native communities. You will examine, diagnose, and treat ocular diseases, and provide emergency ocular care in outpatient and inpatient settings.

Applicants must have a Doctor of Optometry degree, NBEO, and an unrestricted license; residency or equivalent professional experience may be required for higher grades; background checks and mandatory trainings apply.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry degree from an ACOE-accredited program.
• Passing NBEO examinations and possessing a current, full, unrestricted optometry license.
• For GS-12, one year residency or one year of professional experience equivalent to GS-11.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive eye examinations and diagnoses ocular diseases.
• Diagnose and treat a wide range of eye diseases.
• Provide comprehensive primary eye care, including examination, diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases.
• Provide emergency ocular care in outpatient and inpatient settings.
