Qualifications

• Doctorate of Optometry from a credentialed institution.
• Must have passed all optometric state boards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct eye exams and related assessments.
• Establish long-term patient relationships through education and care.
• Perform patient interviews to assess health and ocular history.
• Advise patients on remediation options for refractive errors and ocular disease.
• Generate patient loyalty and promote optometry values.
• Conduct vision tests and analyze results.
• Diagnose sight problems and eye diseases.
• Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications.
• Offer treatments such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation.
• Provide pre- and postoperative care after eye surgery.
• Evaluate for diseases like diabetes and refer to other providers as needed.
• Counsel patients on eye health and lens options with latest coatings.
• Communicate recommendations clearly to opticians and staff.
