Job summary

HealthDrive is seeking a licensed OD for a mobile optometry role serving Asheville, NC and surrounding Western North Carolina. You will provide comprehensive eye exams, manage diseases, and prescribe eyewear while HealthDrive handles scheduling and billing.

The position offers full-time or part-time options, daily travel, no evenings or on-call duties, and a supportive team with malpractice coverage and mileage reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Optometry background with proficiency in assessment and management of eye conditions.
• Ability to work independently on a daily basis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiar with EMR, texting, email and related software.
• Self-starter with commitment to patient care.

Updated Compensation:

• Oppotunity to earn $800+ per day via production with a $625 daily minimum.

Responsibilities

Role Overview & Responsibilities for Optometrist:

• Conduct comprehensive exams, diagnose, treat and manage age-related ocular diseases, injuries and disorders of the eye.
• Traditional daily patient care will also include vision testing and prescribing spectacle lenses.
• Complete required patient and clinical documentation in our optometry electronic medical record system.
• Responsible for applying proper coding guidelines and populating appropriate billing codes for services provided to patients.
• Adheres to OSHA guidelines regarding patient care, disposal of materials, and sterilization of equipment.

Qualifications

• Qualifications:

  • Optometry background with proficiency in the assessment, treatment, management and evaluation of eye conditions and disorders.
  • Ability to work independently on a daily basis.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use EMR, text, email, the internet and to learn other healthcare related software.
  • Self starter attitude with the desire to deliver quality, thoughtful and attentive care.

• Physical Requirements for Optometrist:

  • Ability to stand, to bend, and to lift.
  • Ability to transport optometry equipment (maximum of 15 lbs.).
  • May be occasionally required to transport patients in wheelchairs.

• Education & Qualifications:

  • O.D.
  • Current State professional license.
  • Valid driver’s license.

• Travel:

  This is a mobile position. Daily travel is based on the patient care requirements for the specified service area; your Practice. A valid driver’s license and the ability to drive significant distances on occasion is required.
