Job summary

East Valley Community Health Center Inc. seeks an Optometric Technician to support optometry operations with routine administrative and clinical tasks. You will assist the Optometrist, conduct pre-exam tests, manage patient flow, and educate patients on contact lenses and eyewear.

The role requires 3–5 years of experience, strong communication, and bilingual English/Spanish preferred. DOE hourly pay is offered with competitive benefits and a supportive clinic environment.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in a related role.
• Ability to work well with patients.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patient in a professional and pleasant manner.
• Obtain and document patient history.
• Perform pre-exam tests and measurements (A/R, color testing, VA, stereo vision, lensometry, pupil testing, ocular motilities, IOPs, dilation).
• Maintain steady patient flow for the doctor and refer questions to the doctor.
• Keep exam rooms clean and stocked with supplies and maintain back-office inventory.
• Ensure proper cleaning of equipment and direct patients with spectacle Rx to optical.
• Assist with recall tasks and follow up on missed appointments.
• Support optician with fitting and ordering glasses and provide contact lens education.
• Maintain program logs and complete charts after each patient visit.
