Delaware Eye Care Center in Rudnick, DE is seeking a patient-focused Optometric Technician to support our doctors. No nights, no major holidays or Sundays, with a robust benefits package and a team-oriented environment.

The technician will perform pre-exam tests, maintain instruments, assist with vision tests, and provide contact lens education. Candidates should have at least one year of experience and be willing to travel to other offices occasionally.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly with patients, staff, managers, and doctors.
• Basic computer literacy required.
• Highly energetic with a positive attitude.
• At least one year of experience in a workup position within an optometric practice is preferred.
• Must be willing to travel to other offices occasionally to meet business demands.
• Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be well-organized, a team-player with great attention to detail.
• Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours.
• Must be able to type or write legibly in a dimly lit setting.

Responsibilities

• Initial work up of patients such as gathering chief complaint, ocular and systemic history, past family and social history and complete review of systems
• Measuring visual acuities, intraocular pressures, confrontational fields, EOMS, and more
• Performing external slit lamp examination and administering eye drops
• Scribe in electronic medical records format to document the patient visit and examination
• Assist with stocking supplies, ensuring cleanliness of patient exams room and other administrative or clinical duties as assigned
