Job summary

Delaware Eye Care Center in Newark, DE seeks a patient-focused Ophthalmic Technician to join our daytime team. No nights, no major holidays or Sundays, with a robust benefits package and clear career ladder opportunities.

The role assists physicians in the exam lane, conducts pre-exam testing, enters data into the EHR, and provides patient education and post-procedure instructions, while maintaining top quality patient care and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Basic computer literacy required.
• Willing to travel to other offices occasionally.
• Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours.
• COA/OSC/COT certifications preferred.
• 1–2 years’ experience in a multi-specialty clinic preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Ophthalmologist and Ophthalmologist in exam lane.
• Input data into Electronic Health Record accurately.
• Perform pre-exam testing: visual acuity, pupillary evaluation, tonometry.
• Assist with dilations, contact lenses, and patient education.
• Maintain instruments and clinic safety procedures.
• Open/close exam lanes and ensure equipment is ready.
• Support doctors and staff with courteous professional care.
