Job summary

Adventure Dental & Vision in Wichita, KS seeks an Optometric Technician to administer visual tests, operate diagnostic equipment, and assist with eyewear fittings. Reports to Lead Optometric Assistant. Generous pay, monthly bonus opportunities, PTO, and career growth available.

Position may be full-time or part-time in a busy practice serving underserved children. Pay range is $15.75–$20/hour, with benefits and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in EHR systems across patient records and billing.
• Ability to train and lead a team of Optometric Assistants.
• Strong multitasking and time-management in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Understand and ensure smooth office processes including coding, insurance, and documentation.
• Call patients for appointment confirmations, reminders, cancellations, no-shows, and recalls.
• Support optometrists during eye exams by preparing patients, performing pre-tests, recording results.
• Assist patients and parents during exams to ensure proper pre-testing and eyewear fitting.
• Perform vision tests (visual acuity, color vision, stereo, etc.) and administer dilation drops as needed.
• Help patients select frames and lenses based on prescriptions.
• Process patient payments during check-in/check-out.
• Maintain clean, presentable patient areas including restrooms and lobby.
• Contribute to additional duties supporting high-quality, compassionate care for underserved children.

Adventure Dental & VisioninWichita, KS, iscurrently seeking an Optometric Assistant to administer visual tests, operate diagnostic equipment, and help with eyewear fittings. This position will report to the Lead Optometric Assistant.

Pay range: $15.75-$20/hr

Job Responsibilities

• Understand, monitor, and ensure the smooth execution of office processes, including coding and optometric materials, insurance benefits, patient collection, and documentation
• Call patients regarding appointment confirmations, reminders, cancellations, no shows, and recalls
• Support optometrists during eye exams by preparing patient, performing initial pre-tests, and recording results
• Accompany patients and parents during exams to pre-test the patient and assist Optometrist in scribing and finding a good fit for glasses
• Perform vision tests such as visual acuity, color vision, stereo, confrontations, pupils, ICT, and administer dilation drops
• Help patients select frames and lenses based on prescriptions
• Process patient payments during check-in and check-out
• Ensure practice is clean and presentable to patients to include cleaning restrooms, patient lobby, mopping, vacuuming, dusting etc.
• Participate in other duties that support the mission of providing high-quality and compassionate dental, vision, and orthodontic services to underserved children

Job Qualifications

• Previous experience in a vision practice is a plus
• Ability to tech, scribe, and perform optometric tasks
• Proficiency in EHR systems
• Ability to train and lead a team of Optometric Assistants
• Ability to multitask and complete tasks correctly and on time
• Preferred knowledge of optometric online software/database, Intero Order processing systems, Google Docs, and Document Portal Spreadsheet software
