Job summary

AEG Vision in Warsaw, IN is seeking an Optometric Technician to support doctors and deliver high‑quality patient care. You will conduct pre‑testing, assist with diagnostic testing, and help manage the doctor’s schedule to keep visits efficient and thorough.

You will perform preliminary evaluations, document findings in EHR, and maintain patient records in HIPAA compliance while providing education and exceptional service to patients throughout their eye care journey.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Experience maintaining patients’ records / files per HIPAA regulations.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto reflector, visual acuity.
• Performs verbal interview with patient prior to visit with Optometrist to determine medical issues.
• May be required to schedule referral appointments with Ophthalmologists and other referrals.
• Records and maintain patient records / files in compliance with HIPAA.
• Responds to patient telephone inquiries regarding medications and treatments.
• May perform diagnostic testing using specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Documents medical findings in EHR and assist with clerical duties related to medical documentation.
• Ensures maximum schedule utilization and confirms appointments daily.
• Performs contact lens insertion and removal classes and manages inventory.
• End-of-day wrap-up and maintaining a clean practice environment.
