Job summary

Adventure Dental, Vision, & Orthodontics in Aurora, CO is hiring an Optometric Assistant to administer visual tests, operate diagnostic equipment, and assist with eyewear fittings. This role reports to the Lead Optometric Assistant.

The position offers a pay range of $16-$22 per hour with bonus opportunities and benefits including PTO, paid holidays, and health/dental/vision insurance. Training and leadership duties may be involved.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills are required.
• Ability to multitask and complete tasks on time.
• Ability to train and lead a team of Optometric Assistants.
• Proficiency in EHR systems is expected.
• Bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

• Understand and monitor office processes, including coding, materials, insurance benefits, patient collection and documentation.
• Call patients for appointment confirmations, reminders, cancellations, no shows, and recalls.
• Support optometrists during eye exams by preparing patients, performing pre-tests, and recording results.
• Accompany patients and parents during exams to pre-test and assist with glasses fitting.
• Perform vision tests (visual acuity, color vision, stereo, etc.) and administer dilation drops.
• Help patients select frames and lenses based on prescriptions.
• Process patient payments at check-in and check-out.
• Keep the practice clean and presentable (restrooms, lobby, cleaning duties).
• Participate in duties supporting high-quality, compassionate services for underserved children.

Adventure Dental, Vision, & Orthodontics in Aurora, CO are currently seeking an Optometric Assistant to administer visual tests, operate diagnostic equipment, and help with eyewear fittings. This position will report to the Lead Optometric Assistant.

Pay range: $16-$22/hr (AND BONUS OPPORTUNITY)

Job Responsibilities

• Understand, monitor, and ensure the smooth execution of office processes, including coding and optometric materials, insurance benefits, patient collection, and documentation
• Call patients regarding appointment confirmations, reminders, cancellations, no shows, and recalls
• Support optometrists during eye exams by preparing patient, performing initial pre-tests, and recording results
• Accompany patients and parents during exams to pre-test the patient and assist Optometrist in scribing and finding a good fit for glasses
• Perform vision tests such as visual acuity, color vision, stereo, confrontations, pupils, ICT, and administer dilation drops
• Help patients select frames and lenses based on prescriptions
• Process patient payments during check-in and check-out
• Ensure practice is clean and presentable to patients to include cleaning restrooms, patient lobby, mopping, vacuuming, dusting etc.
• Participate in other duties that support the mission of providing high-quality and compassionate dental, vision, and orthodontic services to underserved children

Job Qualifications

• Previous experience in a vision practice is a plus
• Ability to tech, scribe, and perform optometric tasks
• Strong communication skills
• Proficiency in EHR systems
• Ability to train and lead a team of Optometric Assistants
• Ability to multitask and complete tasks correctly and on time
• Preferred knowledge of optometric online software/database, Intero Order processing systems, Google Docs, and Document Portal Spreadsheet software
• Bilingual a plus
