Job summary

Hero Practice Services is seeking an Optometric Assistant to administer visual tests, operate diagnostic equipment, and assist with eyewear fittings. You will report to the Lead Optometric Assistant and help ensure smooth office operations and patient flow.

The role requires preparing patients, performing pre-tests, recording results, assisting during eye exams, and guiding frames and lenses selection. A supportive environment offers growth within the practice and region.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a vision practice is a plus.
  • Ability to tech, scribe, and perform optometric tasks.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in EHR systems.
  • Ability to train and lead a team of Optometric Assistants.
  • Ability to multitask and complete tasks correctly and on time.
  • Knowledge of Intero Order processing systems, Google Docs, and Document Portal Spreadsheet software.
  • Bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, monitor, and ensure the smooth execution of office processes, including coding and optometric materials, insurance benefits, patient collection, and documentation.
  • Call patients regarding appointment confirmations, reminders, cancellations, no shows, and recalls.
  • Support optometrists during eye exams by preparing patient, performing initial pre-tests, and recording results.
  • Accompany patients and parents during exams to pre-test the patient and assist Optometrist in scribing and finding a good fit for glasses.
  • Perform vision tests such as visual acuity, color vision, stereo, confrontations, pupils, ICT, and administer dilation drops.
  • Help patients select frames and lenses based on prescriptions.
  • Process patient payments during check-in and check-out.
  • Ensure practice is clean and presentable to patients to include cleaning restrooms, patient lobby, mopping, vacuuming, dusting etc.
  • Participate in other duties that support the mission of providing high-quality and compassionate dental, vision, and orthodontic services to underserved children

We are currently seeking an Optometric Assistant to administer visual tests, operate diagnostic equipment, and help with eyewear fittings. This position will report to the Lead Optometric Assistant.

Pay range: $17.95-$22/hr

Job Responsibilities
