Job summary

Vision Health Specialites in Midland, TX seeks an Optometric Technician I to support exam prep, patient history, contact lens training, and front-desk tasks. You’ll assist doctors with testing and patient flow, with a focus on accuracy and patient care.

The role offers a competitive starting wage with full benefits, including PTO, holidays, insurance, and a 401k plan, with typical shift hours between 7:30 am and 6:00 pm, plus possible Saturdays.

• 1+ year of customer service experience (optometric or medical experience is a plus!)

Responsibilities

• Support optometrists by performing pre-screening tests and assisting with exams
• Collect patient medical histories and explain vision benefits clearly and confidently
• Train patients on contact lens use and care
• Verify insurance, schedule appointments, and keep communication flowing smoothly
• Help coordinate patient flow and contribute to a seamless, high-quality experience
• Collaborate with your team to meet goals and deliver exceptional care
• Welcome and prepare patients for their eye examinations
• Obtain patient medical and ocular histories
• Perform preliminary testing, including visual acuity, autorefraction, tonometry, retinal imaging, and other diagnostic procedures
• Assist the doctor during examinations and procedures as needed
• Educate patients on contact lenses, eyewear, and treatment plan
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records
• Clean and maintain exam rooms and equipment
• Support front desk operations, including scheduling appointments and answering phones when needed
• Contact lens training, education, and ordering

Work hours: 8 hours between the hours of 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, and some Saturdays from 8:00am to 12:00 pm

What You’ll Be Doing:
