Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-first attitude.
• Experience in optometric/ophthalmic settings preferred.
• Familiarity with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and testing procedures.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Knowledge of EHR and practice management software is a plus.
• COA, COT, or CPOT certification preferred but not required.
• High school diploma required; healthcare education is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary testing including visual acuity, tonometry, and autorefraction.
• Assist the optometrist during comprehensive eye exams and specialty procedures.
• Document patient histories and chief complaints accurately.
• Educate patients on contact lens care and handling.
• Assist with frame/lens selection and optical dispensing; take measurements.
• Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment; stock exam rooms.
• Schedule appointments and manage patient flow; provide front-to-back support.

Responsibilities:

• Perform preliminary patient testing including visual acuity, tonometry, and autorefraction
• Assist the optometrist during comprehensive eye exams and specialty procedures
• Collect and document patient medical histories and chief complaints accurately
• Educate patients on contact lens care, insertion, and removal techniques
• Manage frame and lens selections, assist with optical dispensing, and take measurements
• Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment and ensure exam rooms are properly stocked
• Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and provide exceptional front-to-back office support

Requirements:

• Prior experience as an optometric technician, ophthalmic tech, or in a clinical eye care setting preferred
• Familiarity with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and testing procedures
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-first attitude
• Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and practice management software a plus
• COA, COT, or CPOT certification preferred but not required
• High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in healthcare a plus
