Job summary

Adventure Dental, Vision, & Orthodontics in Kansas City, KS is seeking an Optometric Assistant to administer visual tests, operate diagnostic equipment, and assist with eyewear fittings under the Lead Optometric Assistant.

The role supports eye exams, prepares patients, performs pre-tests, and helps families select frames while ensuring smooth office operations and compassionate care for underserved children.

Qualifications

• Experience in a vision practice is a plus.
• Ability to tech, scribe, and perform optometric tasks.
• Proficiency in EHR systems.
• Ability to train and lead a team of Optometric Assistants.
• Ability to multitask and complete tasks on time.
• Knowledge of optometric software, Intero systems, and Google Docs is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth execution of office processes including coding, materials, insurance, and documentation.
• Call patients regarding appointment confirmations, reminders, cancellations, no shows, and recalls.
• Support optometrists during eye exams by preparing patients, performing initial pre-tests, and recording results.
• Accompany patients and parents during exams to pre-test and assist the Optometrist in scribing and finding a good glasses fit.
• Perform vision tests such as visual acuity, color vision, stereo, pupils, and dilation drops.
• Help patients select frames and lenses based on prescriptions.
• Process patient payments during check-in and check-out.
• Ensure the practice is clean and presentable, including restrooms, lobby, and common areas.
• Participate in other duties supporting high-quality, compassionate vision care for underserved children.

Adventure Dental, Vision, & Orthodontics in Kansas City, KS, is currently seeking an Optometric Assistant to administer visual tests, operate diagnostic equipment, and help with eyewear fittings. This position will report to the Lead Optometric Assistant.

Pay range: $15.75-$20/hr

Job Responsibilities

• Understand, monitor, and ensure the smooth execution of office processes, including coding and optometric materials, insurance benefits, patient collection, and documentation
• Call patients regarding appointment confirmations, reminders, cancellations, no shows, and recalls
• Support optometrists during eye exams by preparing patient, performing initial pre-tests, and recording results
• Accompany patients and parents during exams to pre-test the patient and assist Optometrist in scribing and finding a good fit for glasses
• Perform vision tests such as visual acuity, color vision, stereo, confrontations, pupils, ICT, and administer dilation drops
• Help patients select frames and lenses based on prescriptions
• Process patient payments during check-in and check-out
• Ensure practice is clean and presentable to patients to include cleaning restrooms, patient lobby, mopping, vacuuming, dusting etc.
• Participate in other duties that support the mission of providing high-quality and compassionate dental, vision, and orthodontic services to underserved children

Job Qualifications

• Previous experience in a vision practice is a plus
• Ability to tech, scribe, and perform optometric tasks
• Strong communication skills
• Proficiency in EHR systems
• Ability to train and lead a team of Optometric Assistants
• Ability to multitask and complete tasks correctly and on time
• Preferred knowledge of optometric online software/database, Intero Order processing systems, Google Docs, and Document Portal Spreadsheet software
• Bilingual a plus
