Job summary

Adventure Dental, Vision, & Orthodontics in Kansas City, KS is seeking an Optometric Assistant to administer visual tests, operate diagnostic equipment, and assist with eyewear fittings. The role reports to the Lead Optometric Assistant.

Pay range is $15.75-$20/hr with monthly bonus opportunities, PTO, and paid holidays. Join a practice-focused team offering growth within the region.

Qualifications

• Experience administering visual tests or assisting in optometry preferred.
• Ability to assist with eyewear fittings and frame selection.
• Strong communication and patient service skills.

Responsibilities

• Understand, monitor, and ensure smooth office processes including coding, materials, insurance benefits, patient collection, and documentation.
• Call patients regarding appointment confirmations, reminders, cancellations, no shows, and recalls.
• Support optometrists during eye exams by preparing patients, performing initial pre-tests, and recording results.
• Accompany patients and parents during exams to pre-test the patient and assist the optometrist with scribing and finding a good fit for glasses.
• Perform vision tests such as visual acuity, color vision, stereo, confrontations, pupils, ICT, and administer dilation drops.
• Help patients select frames and lenses based on prescriptions.
